The qualification is a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) Level 2. VRQ’s may be used to improve job prospects and gain exemptions from some elements of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ’s), professional qualifications or further related education.
Course Syllabus

Mandatory Core Unit

  • Unit 1 Maintain day books, prepare ledger balances and extract a trial balance Non-mandatory Units
  • Unit 2 Process ledger transactions and prepare control accounts
  • Unit 3 Make journal entries and adjustments and produce a revised trial balance
  • Unit 4 Process nominal ledger transactions (Computerised)
  • Unit 5 Carry out stock control processes (Computerised)

  • In order to achieve the full qualification candidates must achieve the mandatory core unit (Unit 1) and any two other units from the choice of non-mandatory units.
  • OCR Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
Diploma award
For those candidates achieving all five of the units of the qualification, a Diploma award is available
OCR Level 2 Diploma in Accounting.
Duration
  • Certificate : 6 weeks (4 hours in a week) or
  • Diploma Award:10 weeks (4 hours in a week)


Timings:

  • Daytime:Mon  & Wed(12.00 Noon to 2.00pm)
  • Evening: Mon & Wed(6.00 pm to 8.00 pm)
  • Weekend:(TBC)
 

The qualification is ideally suited to a diverse range of people from school leavers to mature learners and career changers. The qualification is also suitable for students who have a basic knowledge of bookkeeping or who are working in accounting or bookkeeping areas and who wish to extend their knowledge.
